PRIVACY POLICY

Your privacy is critically important to us. At Cobook we have a few fundamental principles:

  • We don’t ask you for personal information unless we truly need it.
  • We don’t share your personal information with anyone except to comply with the law, develop our products, or protect our rights.
  • We don’t store personal information on our servers unless required for the on-going operation of one of our services.

This privacy policy governs your use of apps, websites, services and software (collectively “Cobook”), provided by Cobook SIA. They apply to all visitors, users and others who access Cobook (“users”).

Information Collection and Use

When using Cobook, you agree to our collection, transfer, processing, storage, disclosure and other uses of your information as described here. If you have any questions or comments about our policy, you can contact us at help@cobook.co.

What sort of information do we collect?

User Provided Information

We ask for certain personal information when you register for Cobook Livecards feature (either in the app or on our website) or if you correspond with us, like your first and last name, e-mail address or phone number. If you email us, we may keep your message and contact information so we can respond to your request. We use this information to operate, maintain, and provide to you with Services’s features and functionality.

Contacts

Cobook is designed to help you manage your contact list. You will be prompted for permission within the app before Cobook can access your contacts. We will not use this information for any purpose other than to provide the Cobook service to you. Besides Cobook does not automatically upload or store your address book data outside your device.

Push Notifications

Cobook sends push notifications to your mobile device when there are contact updates or another user has sent you a request via Cobook. You may turn these off at the device level by following the instructions on your device, but please be aware that if you do, you will not receive any future alerts.

Analytics for Web and Mobile

The Applications may collect certain information automatically, including the type of device you use, the IP address of your mobile device, your operating system, and information about the way you use the Applications. Cobook’s purpose in collecting this information is to better understand how Cobook’s users use the Applications.

Like most website operators, Cobook collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Cobook’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Cobook’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Cobook may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by publishing a report on trends in the usage of its website.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

Cobook discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Cobook’s behalf or to provide services available at Cobook’s websites, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Some of those employees, contractors and affiliated organizations may be located outside of your home country; by using Cobook’s websites, you consent to the transfer of such information to them. Cobook will not rent or sell potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information to anyone. Other than to its employees, contractors and affiliated organizations, as described above, Cobook discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only in response to a subpoena, court order or other governmental request, or when Cobook believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Cobook, third parties or the public at large. If you are a registered user of an Cobook website and have supplied your email address, Cobook may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with Cobook and our products. We primarily use our various product blogs to communicate this type of information, so we expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other users. Cobook takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. Cobook uses cookies to help Cobook identify and track visitors, their usage of Cobook website, and their website access preferences. Cobook visitors who do not wish to have cookies placed on their computers should set their browsers to refuse cookies before using Cobook’s websites, with the drawback that certain features of Cobook’s websites may not function properly without the aid of cookies.

Changing or Deleting Your Information

If your information changes, or if you wish to discontinue use of Cobook, you may update or delete it by visiting your account settings within the mobile application or by emailing us at the email address listed below. In some cases we may retain copies of your information if required by law. If you have questions on how to change or delete your information, please contact help@cobook.co. We will respond to your access request within 30 days.

Security

Security is extremely important to us. We use industry leading security practices to preserve the integrity of all your Cobook data. For example, all data transmissions are encrypted using secure socket layer technology (SSL). However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Business Transfers

If Cobook, or substantially all of its assets, were acquired, or in the unlikely event that Cobook goes out of business or enters bankruptcy, user information would be one of the assets that is transferred or acquired by a third party. You acknowledge that such transfers may occur, and that any acquirer of Cobook may continue to use your personal information as set forth in this policy.

Privacy Policy Changes

Although most changes are likely to be minor, Cobook may change its Privacy Policy from time to time, and in Cobook’s sole discretion. Cobook encourages visitors to frequently check this page for any changes to its Privacy Policy. Your continued use of this site or Cobook mobile and desktop applications after any change in this Privacy Policy will constitute your acceptance of such change.
